The amazing world of bubbles

The EUROSON School in Timișoara, organized under the WFUMB Center of Education, offered three intensive days of cutting-edge ultrasonography training across abdominal, neck, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound applications.

Day 1 | Thursday, 27 March – Parallel Sessions

🔷 Room 1 – Abdomen Ultrasound
Chaired by Prof. Ioan Sporea, Prof. Roxana Șirli, Prof. Alina Popescu, and Prof. Sergiu Puiu, this session addressed a complete range of abdominal topics:

• The “6+ technique” for structured scanning (Sporea)

• Liver, biliary, pancreatic, spleen, renal, and vascular pathology (Șirli, Dănilă, Bende, Popescu, Moga, Bob, Brkljačić)

• Digestive and thoracic ultrasound (Maconi, Chira)

• Gynecologic pathology for non-gynecologists (Puiu)

• A special lecture by Prof. Christoph Dietrich on rare ultrasound findings

🔷 Room 2 – Neck Ultrasound
Led by Prof. Dana Stoian, Prof. Mihaela Vlad, and Prof. Timothy Beale, this track focused on:

• Salivary glands, parathyroid, mediastinum, and thyroid imaging (Lenghel, Vlad, Dietrich, Stoian)

• Laryngeal ultrasound and US-guided FNA/biopsy techniques (Beale)

• Doppler and MPUS applications (Brkljačić, Stoian)

Day 2 | Friday, 28 March – Joint Event

“The Amazing World of the Bubbles” – CEUS in Clinical Practice

Chaired by global CEUS pioneers including Prof. Ioan Sporea, Prof. Christian Jenssen, Prof. Christoph Dietrich, and Prof. Zeno Spârchez, this full-day event offered comprehensive sessions on:

• CEUS fundamentals and technique (Sporea, Moga, Jenssen)

• Hepatic, biliary, pancreatic, splenic, thyroid, lymphatic, and pediatric applications (Șirli, Chira, Dănilă, Ghiuchici, Popescu, Grgurević, Lenghel, Saraci, Stoian, Bena)

• CEUS in interventional US and EUS (Spârchez, Săftoiu)

• A vibrant case-based session with expert commentary from Jenssen, Chira, Ghiuchici, Popa, Nica, and Bena

The day concluded with a Get Together Party, celebrating knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Day 3 | Saturday, 29 March – Live Demo & Hands-On

🔷 Room 1 – Abdominal Ultrasound
Live demonstrations in abdominal and neck scanning, followed by hands-on sessions.

🔷 Room 2 – Neck Ultrasound
Chaired by Prof. Dana Stoian and Prof. Boris Brkljačić, this focused morning included:

• Concomitant thyroid-parathyroid pathology (Vlad)

• Cervical lymph node and vascular pathology (Lenghel, Brkljačić)

• “Lumps and Bumps” in the neck (Stoian)

• Live neck scanning on stage (Beale), followed by hands-on training.

This edition of EUROSON School in Timișoara confirmed its status as a regional hub for excellence in ultrasound education, uniting international experts, multidisciplinary approaches, and the latest in diagnostic imaging practice.
